3 time World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx announced his retirement from racing last month, in order to support his son’s career.
This lead to reigning teams’ champions Cyan Racing needing to find a new driver, and after a 4-driver shootout, 23 year old Santiago Urrutia was signed.
He will drive the Cyan Performance entered Lynk & Co 03 alongside Thed Bjork, while the Cyan Racing entered car will be driven by Yvan Muller and Yann Ehrlacher.
The Uruguayan said, “I’m super-happy to join Cyan Racing, it’s very emotional for me and for my whole country. I’m obviously young and I want to race in the WTCR with Cyan Racing for many, many years.
“I am really grateful to have got this opportunity and trust from the team and I will give all to live up to the expectations.”
The 2020 World Touring Car Cup will start on September 12th/13th, at Salzburg in Austria.
