WRX: 2020 to Start with 3 Double Headers

The 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship will kick off its 2020 season with a trio of double header events at its first 3 locations.

The Yas Marina event in Abu Dhabi later in the season was already confirmed to be a double header, in which the usual Saturday-Sunday schedule would be condensed into 1 day, then repeated on the day after.

The same format will now be adopted by the Swedish, Finnish and Latvian rounds, with Abu Dhabi now set to host just a single round in the traditional 2 day format.

This takes the total number of rounds to 11, up from the previous 9.

As for whether events would be open to fans or not, WRX issued a statement saying it will be up to the local authorities for each event to whether they will allow spectators at their event, “All events in 2020 will run within the prevailing national health and safety requirements for mass gatherings and individual event organisers will provide information on spectator attendance closer to their race date.”
