Despite a revised 2020 calendar still not fully certain amid a flurry of cancellations thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FIA World Rally Championship has given a first look to how next year’s schedule could look.
So far, only 9 rallies are confirmed and all with no announced dates. More events are expected to be added to the calendar later in the year.
Wales Rally GB currently has a contract with the Welsh Government to host a WRC round in 2021, however are yet to strike an agreement with WRC Promoter. Despite this, Motorsport UK is “optimistic” that there will be a UK round in the 2021 WRC season.
Rally Australia makes its return to the WRC schedule in 2021, having been dropped in favour of New Zealand in 2020, with Spain also making a return after a year out of the WRC.
The Safari Rally in Kenya will make its popular return in 2021 for the first time since the 50th Safari Rally in 2002. The event was due to take place in 2020 but was one of many rallies to be cancelled.
