Le Mans: Full Grid and Condensed Timetable Announced

The 88th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has already been delayed from its 13th/14th June date to the 19th/20th September due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now a condensed 4 day timetable has been revealed for the event.

Rather than practice and qualifying taking place on the traditional Wednesday and Thursday before the race, it will now take place on the Thursday and Friday, with the time for free practice reduced by an hour to 11 hours.

The new-for-2020 Hyperpole qualifying format will remain.

Scrutineering will take place at the Circuit de la Sarthe on Wednesday, rather than in the centre of Le Mans.

3 Free Practice sessions will take place on Thursday 17th September, starting at 10:00 local time. This will be split by the opening qualifying session at 17:15, in which all 62 cars from every class will compete.

The Hyperpole Qualifying session will take place at 11:30 on Friday 18th September, in which the fastest 6 cars in each class from Thursday’s qualifying session will compete, after the 4th Free Practice session.

This will be followed by one final practice session, with the race warm-up session coming on Saturday morning. The race will begin at 14:30 on Saturday 19th September and will end 24 hours later on the Sunday.
