GEOX Dragon have announced that Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara will replace the outgoing Brendon Hartley at the team, for the Berlin races in August.
Hartley and Dragon split last week after a difficult rookie season for the former F1 driver, which has enabled the Kiwi to focus on his WEC duties, with races at Spa, Le Mans and Bahrain due to take place in 2020, the former clashing with the Formula E season finale.
Sette Camara is the Red Bull and AlphaTauri F1 reserve driver, and was named as one of Dragon’s reserve drivers for Season 6. He participated in the Marrakesh rookie test, placing 2nd fastest behind only Nick Cassidy, who broke the lap record at the African venue.
The 22 year old made a name for himself in Formula 2, notching up 4 wins and 19 podiums across 3 seasons, placing 4th overall in 2019 for DAMS.
Dragon team boss Jay Penske said, "I have been very impressed with Sergio on track in Marrakesh, and in his work in the simulator with our engineers to continue to push the development of the PENSKE EV-4 package.
"I look forward to seeing him on track in Berlin, and I fully expect him to challenge for points in his first races with the team."
Sette Camara added, "The team and I had really strong chemistry in the Marrakesh Rookie Test. We executed the program, and performed well, finishing the day P2.
"I am delighted to share the news that I will work with them again, this time in a race situation, which makes it even more special. I want to thank Jay Penske and every member of GEOX Dragon Racing for giving me this opportunity."
