F1: Williams Unveils New Livery

Williams Racing has revealed its new livery it will run on the FW43 in the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The revamped livery comes after the team split with title sponsor ROKiT last month, with the original livery that was used in testing featured very prominent branding of the phone company’s logo and colours, meaning the most notable difference is the lack of red on the new livery.

The Grove based outfit has remained with the white and electric blue introduced in 2018 after their Martini title sponsorship ran out of contract, however notable changes include the change in gradient in the blue stripes.

There is also a Mercedes style pattern on the rear of the engine cover, possibly nodding to an increased partnership to help the privateer out of financial trouble?

With ROKiT gone, the sponsors of Sofina, Acronis and Lavazza have all got increased presence on the new livery, with Sofina coming from driver Latifi’s father’s business, and Lavazza coming from development driver Roy Nissany.

F1’s #WeRaceAsOne initiative can be seen on the rear wing, with the official F1 70 logo added just in front of the halo, to celebrate 2020 being the 70th season of Formula 1.

With George Russell staying on for his 2nd season in F1 and rookie Nicholas Latifi, Williams will hope 2020 will see them lift off the bottom of the Constructors Championship table, having finished last for the past 2 years.

Formula 1 returns on July 3rd – 5th, for the Rolex Grosser Preis von Österreich at the Red Bull Ring.
